Never mind Cam you can't get the alright. Eventually the retail sector will recover and some of these will be bargains but hard to tell when that will be. I also held SFH and think it is good long term but sold out about 2 months ago as felt little short term prospects. I will look to re-enter in the future.
I did notice however that JNB Hifi posted good results so maybe some of the better retailers or in specific sectors are not doing so bad.
Purely anecdotally I did some shopping recently and found Myers and Harvey Norman stores very quiet but JB Hifi and David Jones quite busy.
On another anectdotal experience shopping for PCs / laptops at Harvey Norman and JB Hifi. HVN staff came across like used cars salesmen, obviously pushing me to certain plans and products (guessing the ones they got good commissions on), little real IT knowledge when you asked more than obvious questions.
JB Hifi staff were mainly young many high school students (working after hours and weekends), computer geeky types but very helpful, friendly but not pushy, extremely knowledgeable about the products and IT stuff in general. It was like chalk and cheese couldn't speak more highly of my shopping experience as JB Hifi. HVN I was happy to escape their pushy salesmen approach. Sorry if I've rambled of topic a bit
