Li out of the ground is abundant and can be achieved from hard rock reasonably quickly Hydroxide which is cheaper from spod than brine takes a large capital investment and at least 3 to 4 years at the moment (it will get quicker and the process will improve) to develop. Carbonate which generally comes from brine takes 18 months to produce the feedstock (that's if it doesn't rain) and then you have to have a plant which takes 3 to 4 years. The bottleneck will be refining not mining
