Bottle of cream could have been unrefrigerated, so business may claim to be your fault. A can of tomatoes should never contain affected tomatoes - EVER.
I am wheeling them back to the shop and will be discrete re my showing them these. They are from Italy and due date is 31/12/19, same as date of other can I was able to use in my cooking this morning.
Will report on outcome.
ps I once bought eggs which were rotten. I took them back but warned them about the smell on entering the shop, lol.
