    but the last time i saw any dust storm footage as spectacular as this was when america began their campaign to free iraq.

    much was made of the significance of the storm by the iraqis, which the americans naturally laughed off and then proceeded to "win the war" in record time.

    history, of course, shows a different outcome.
    i am not a believer in signs, but the irony of such symbolism certainly left its impression on me.

    now i know that this is going to get under some skin in here (which is why i am saying it), but surely a dust storm as spectacular as this reaching all the way to sydney is quite a significant event in the context of the climate.

    put it this way. it does not scream out to me that the world is cooling.

    there will never be agreement on the reality, cause, or even importance, of changing climate, but i daresay that the time for considered dialogue is definitely upon us. events like this pose as much of a problem to our economy as they do to our environment (many businesses will incur abnormal expenses in dealing with today).

    excuses to carry on blindly are wearing thin
