I am a big fan of lithium. In fact 90% of my investments are in lithium.
There is one area however that I think lithium will not penetrate and that is stationary storage.
Unless lithium batteries improve dramatically I just do not see it.
Sure the hype may get them going bad press is sure to follow.
Lithium for mobile storage and flow batteries for static.. because it makes sense.
The reason? Loss of capacity
Tesla Powerwall
6.4 kWh nominal storage
5.4 kWh warranted storage
4.6 kWh warranted storage after 2 years
3.8 kWh warranted storage after 5 years
Warranty void if average operating temperature > 30C
