Former had early backing while only a big potential. The latter was leveraged during the GFC and takeover of Alcan in cash flow difficulty. The times are changing and a global economic downturn brings out the worse in people and foreign policies. It is now adversarial rather than cooperation. The world that we know of where trade relationships drove above all else is now in danger of a 'Cold war' mentality. The 'rubber of intolerance is hitting the road' between the superpowers and it does not matter who was at fault. Collateral damage as both superpowers are forcing their relationships to take a side at the worst possible time.
It has been a very long time if at all that I have experience both a political and economic breakdown in global terms as all the major central banks are leveraged up to their eye balls.
