from what 40 understands (it was certainly this way some yrs ago and i do not know that it has changed) when the value of a holding falls below a certain value then a company has the right to take your shares and send you a chq. one can increase one's holding to avoid being thrown into the dungeon.

look at company reports and we still get 'shareholders with less than a marketable parcel' somewhere after the list of shareholders holdings. i feel therefore no changes to the system. i do know this method gets used but not too often.

i will send a stamped addressed envelope to mr f. if there is a new office skycraper with him and co in it then there will not be enough money left for postage he he.
