Off that high horse, that's a bit rich coming from a moderator!
"One of the most important roles of a CEO and their senior leadership team is to develop and successfully execute their company's strategic plan. One of the most important roles of a board is oversight of the company's strategy. ... The strategic plan should be consistent with the vision and mission of the company."
The whole issue is, the CEO of Australia post which is owned by the Australian government issued Cartier watches to her executive team. The media caught onto it and thought it could be to have a cheap shot at the Government.
The opposition questioned the Prime Minister on the principle of the gifts in which he could have supported the CEO and been tarred with a dumb decision or, reject it. He had a choice there and then, and I think the PM made the right choice.
Scomo had to make a decision does he support CEO's of government organisation handing out gifts like Cartier watches which obviously would have hurt his image putting a slur on, corruption, jobs for the boys, tax free gifts etc
The CEO had a hissy fit of the decision and played the gender card which is not a good look for a CEO!
The Australia post board made the decision on the CEO's actions and should have been responsible for her dismissal not the PM.
If she is such stupendous CEO, she will obviously be recognised by other companies and head hunted!
By playing the gender card, IMHO, has not helped her future prospects.
She had a chance at that hearing to sell herself to all companies around the world about her world breaking achievements.
Like my hero Margaret thatcher said, to compete with men you have to prove yourself better than them and she didn't like female cabinet ministers because the get too emotional, much like some of the clowns here on HC!
