    Leunigs piece may interest some lovers of fiction but that is where it ends. He confuses defence forces with repressive police states and then says over 100,000 civilians have been killed in Iraq and yet we have not lost one soldier. The implication is that out militaristic ideology kills defenceless civilians as a means of suppression.

    The Lancet estimate of +100,000 has been totally discredited as a work of fiction. The latest figure is a maximum of 23,005 care of http://www.iraqbodycount.net/
