I had to find another tree today, the stringy bark I'd about used up. Geez it burnt well. It wasn't your average stringy bark which is just a so-so wood to burn. It was more red like an iron bark or some other gum tree. But it split beautifully, burnt away to nothing and gave lovely heat But I just found another tree half an hour ago. Funny how you can walk around and around and not see something. I hadn't seen this dead she oak as far as I remember (which isn't saying much). It's a beauty. Again they can be different from one another. But this is a good one. Quite thick and has that grey moss or whatever it is all over it. When you get one like that it gives you good wood. I'm enjoying this, having to find timber to keep the fire going. It's a primitive satisfaction.
