Of course there are mum and dads that has shorted Lynas
However the percentage would not be too great compared to the trading desks from brokerage firms and investment banks.
Lynas is a liquid stock which typically trades in the range of 14-25million units which is about $10-$15m per day (depending on the share price of course). Most of this liquidity would be from institutional trading.
