I think Government must support AGL, page-26

First and foremost - ScoMo & the Liberal/Nationals are not acting in the best interest of the nation...

BUT The government made this move to build the gas plant generation - not to uncut AGL... but because of AGLs inactivity...

build scale to replace what you are shutting down, or we will build it (would have been better if they incentivized the market to invest instead of direct)... if they didn't... more NEM spot price increases would sure as shit happened... its not in AGLs best interest to increase supply as it puts downward pressure on spot prices and impacts their profitability

Reality is that AGL was calling the govts bluff up until that point (nah - they wont interfere), and it failed...

now they will have additional supply in the market to chop off some of the cream from the top of NEM spot pricing curve... the gas wont be always on... but whenever price gets above a certain point - you will be sure that they will come into play.... IFN used to use Smithfield gas plant above 120 per Mw - price will probably be at a higher point than that as gas prices have risen

It is just another strike against AGLs risk management and oversight by the board.
