The key to this one can be found in the very name… [Sun]day. Many Christians were tortured and killed by the Roman Catholic church for keeping the seventh day Sabbath. Even to this day the Roman Catholic church claims authority to be able to change both “the times” and “the law” (see Daniel 7:25) – this is clearly manifested in their changing of the Ten Commandments (the complete removal of 2nd commandment on idolatry, the changing of the 4th commandment to “The Lord’s Day” meaning [Sun]day, and to maintain 10, the splitting the 10th commandment in two, becoming the 9th and 10th).

Ultimately, the seventh day is the only day blessed and made holy by God as the Sabbath. “So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from His sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:9-13.

Jesus said, "the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." Jesus healed on the Sabbath, His disciples picked grain in His presence on the Sabbath and He taught on the Sabbath, the NT does not continue the practice of the Sabbath saying rather, that Jesus will give you rest. I don't see how anybody could then debate which day a Christian should observe the Sabbath when it clearly has nothing to do with Christians.

The Sabbath is a Jewish tradition. It is not Christian, so it doesn't matter what day you observe it because it's not a thing.

So the Sabbath was not almost murdered out of existence, it was expunged completely by Christ Himself, but ritual is like stage 4 cancer, it is very difficult to reverse once it gets into the system and ritual is the ability to act religious without having to actually do anything. It's religious theatre.
