Today, I voted for Australia’s future and against Tony Abbott’s legislation.

Sadly, we have a Prime Minister and a government which does not believe climate change is real.

Labor wants to ensure Australia is not left doing nothing on pollution. Carbon pollution is having a big impact on Australia – summers are hotter and there are more extreme weather events. As you know, it is affecting our agriculture, oceans and environment.

In leaving no sound or sensible replacement policy in place to tackle pollution, the Abbott government has run up the white flag on climate change.

Now isn’t the time to be silent. Step up and speak out – for our future and for our kids, because doing nothing isn’t an option

With your help, we can let more people know what’s really going on. I am proud to lead a party that is sticking to our principles and holding the government to account.

We can look our children in the face and say, 'When we had the chance to do something, we did.'

    With thanks,

    Bill Shorten
