In my opinion, there are risks with everything. Getting up, or staying in bed all day!
Likewise with money. Invest it or keep under mattress.
And all investments have their place. And advantages and disadvantages. And risks. The art and the skill is trying to learn from our mistakes. Learn or own strengths and weaknesses. BRN may kick up, may go up to ....$? Or not and go down. Be happy with your decisions.
My advice though, as a beginner, would be to not rule out investing in shares or the ASX in the future. Plenty of people have lost money in mortgages! And maybe next time try in invest where honest Board and CEO, with proven track record in the past. And if in tech or riskier stocks, or other investments, acknowledge with greater potential rewards come greater risks. And try not to stay emotionally attached for longer than you are comfortable, in noon or bust.
AND ensure performance shares reward performance.
