    Is it the policies you care about, or the style of leadership?

    Hawke and Keating dragged Labor (and Australia) into economic liberalisation. They did what was necessary in that time of economic over-regulation.

    Present times call for different policies. Most economists agree we need a massive surge in infrastructure investment, and a shift in our tax base away from personal income taxes and toward consumption and idle capital. Our universities are also starving for funding, and we need to balance the budget over the longer term.

    To my mind, Shorten appears to broadly agree with these needs and is more capable of delivering them - in an equitable way acceptable to the Australian populace - than the Liberals, who are bloody-mindedly against the revenue raising we need to build the required infrastructure without incurring crushing debt.

    Vote Labor.
