Well spoken, Nelson, almost the exact same thing happened to me in the early '90s.
I say 'almost the exact same' because I didn't send any money but the sales pitch came first via the phone and then via fantastic glossy brochures from the Gold Coast. That was in the days when Iress and similar services were not available to ordinary players except if you paid something like $3,500 per quarter to subscribe. At the time, I was doing OK so I did subscribe and as soon as I looked back into the claimed purchases/sales and volumes it was apparent that no such thing had happened on the nominated dates.
When they rang back to close the deal I fronted them with the facts and eventually they admitted that had made it all up, BUT assured me it was indicative of what would have happened. No thanks!
