It worries me that our poster is guilt tripping himself into getting back in.
Take the emotion out, mate, if you and your family have been healthy, happy and able to pay your way in life, these are more important things than whether you can hang a picture on a wall.
If the mortgage and the rent are similar, go for it, but if getting back on the ladder is going to eat up all your savings and leave you squeezed, stick with your convictions, stay renting, and tell the missus to visit an art gallery if she wants to see nice pictures !
