But given we are now some 14 years later I will presume there will have been considerable improvement in the CVM technology and whilst back in those days as it was said – ‘We all want the first-in service application of CVM to be a success’ the chances now with such improvements a first-in service application just has to be a success. And interesting to note the thickness of the structure was an issue then Iwonder if this is still the case?
And note this is an email between Boeing and Delta – and independent of SMN.

i dont think its an "issue" as such , its just that CVM is suitable for 0.10" inch mtl monitoring (2.54mm thick)

its a design /mechanical decision basically, of course that might changed over the last 14 years
