    so hopefully they get to a point where the vaccine will actually stop you catching and transmitting the virus,

    The vaccines won't do that. They train your immune system to recognise the virus and attack it before it becomes too infectious and makes you very ill. This also helps reduce the viral load. That is the amount you express out of your body either by breathing or fecal matter which is then transmissable to others.

    The hope is the virus gets weaker over time with each variant but that isn't expected.
    Perhaps infants crawling around picking everything up and putting it in their mouths will give future generations immunity.
    Fingers crossed.
