People in the phillipines and vietnam are not living on that low of an earnings. In Phillipines, for example, people who are earning income that low would be living on pak pak chicken and would not own any smartphone. People in Vietnam and phillipines enjoy a much higher standard of living in comparisson to african nations where $5 a day is the average per capita. Those people you see with oppo earn a hell of a lot more income and are served by cell towers and WILL NOT be SAS target customers. Same story with people in kenya or what not that are also served by cell towers. The only customers, if there is any, for SAS would be people in very remote areas where cell towers are no viable economically or geographically nor served by competing established players.

Most poor people buy data loads as required and that is true but how much do you think goat farmers in remote portion of mali or kenya on a $1 social eco phone is going to be willing to spend? $1 a year? It is about making money not giving people access...
