Thanks Arkacia. I'm not sure whether I've mentioned it on the CFU thread or not, but I did post my thoughts on the Politics Forum. I personally believe the Carbon Tax is actually a Peak Oil mitigation Policy. It is Legislation aimed at significantly reducing the Carbon Intensity of our Energy production.

"They understand our country needs to price carbon and embrace a clean-energy future," Ms Gillard said.

A Communist Gov't like China can simply Dictate the required changes in Infrastructure to prepare for a Terminal Decline in World Oil Production. Have a look at how aggressively China is pursuing Renewable Energy...

Not so easy to achieve in a Democracy run by "the Free Markets". Thus the need for a Market pricing mechanism to facilitate the required changes:

"The Federal Infrastructure Minister says the government is looking at ways to encourage superannuation funds to invest in infrastructure projects.

That is because the federal government won't be able to fund Australia's infrastructure needs without help from the private sector, Anthony Albanese says."

Anyone that works in Finance knows the Private Credit Markets are many orders of magnitude larger than the Government's own coffers : )

Long term I'm very bullish CFU
