I would vote for Senator Xenophon if I lived in SA

    He is one impressive Senator and hope he does well.

    At the Press club today I noted him say that the govt is not
    doing enough to support manufacturing and jobs in Australia.

    He said the Free Trade Agreements are not delivering what has
    been claimed with more imports coming into the country
    from Thailand etc compared to the additional exports out.
    This means the death knell for many jobs in Australia.

    More frighteningly he said that next year will see the closure
    of the car industry in Australia that will see some 200,0000
    jobs lost as a consequence, a terrifying prospect. No country in
    the world would permit such dramatic job/industry reductions,
    that favour overseas interests.

    At the same time the 4Corners program has highlighted the extent
    of overseas tax avoidance havens, by the super rich and multi-national
    corporations including those that derive profits in Australia.
    They have been allowed to operate with impunity and thats where the
    focus ought to be rather than the political point scoring that is going on here.
