It all comes down to personal choice and what appeals to you as a traveller. Bali is a beautiful island, though overrun by tourism.
I think you wil find with the advent of 'low cost carriers' it has created a new travelling market that traditionally didn't leave our shores and maybe filled our caravan parks:)
