what a ridiculous position. If that were true then you would never invest in more than a handful of industries that you are intimately familiar with.

Oh can't invest in IBM, Cisco or Google since I can't build a blade farm or virtualised data centre switching environment.

Oh can't invest in toyota coz I can't build a car.

Oh I can't invest in banks because aside from the basics of bank accounts, CFDs and compound interest I don't understand complex financial instruments.
