All as I can say is, there is a tipping point. There is a reason why the far-right is gaining support across all of Europe, to the point where even neo-nazi parties have a decent number of seats in parliament (see -golden dawn in Greece). It hasn't happened for no reason. The people of Europe realised over the last decade that the ONLY way to get REAL CHANGE was to radically change the way they voted, and now the familiar centre left/right governments have continued to decay support. The perfect example is the National Front in France. What started as a right wing youth movement in the 70's, viewed as an isolated fringe group, has now come first in the most recent European parliament elections winning 25% of the vote! As Australians, we have to ask ourselves why this has happened.
I think people are now starting to realise that we will continue to get more of the same if we just keep voting the same. In my view people will ultimately vote on Social policy over any economic policy if they feel their way of life is threatened enough. That is what is happening in Europe. I for one, for the first time will not be voting for the cardboard cut out major parties anymore. They simply give lip service. I know the smaller alternatives aren't prefect, and will never complete agree on views, but to get real change you have to vote for real change. I simply think we are 10 years behind what is happening in Europe politically. I do not want my children growing up in any less a favourable environment that I experienced. I mean, let's look at this.....10,000 troops to guard schools and other places in France. Socially it's very sad, economically it costs a fortune.
See how far i'm wrong. I tip in the future: Many European countries will leave the euro, the euro economic zone as we know it will collapse, countries in Europe will now enter a period of economic turmoil, with some extreme right wing parties coming to power. Borders will tighten with re-establishment of strict border patrols and in many countries over there immigration will cease completely. I think this will all happen within 10 years, if not before.
