Oh No! I guess we only have a bit over a decade to update one of the many cryptos to be resistant to quantum computing!

Really this can only be a threat to BTC specifically if they don't do another hard fork for about 20 years.
BTC is likely going to hold only value to collector's in 20 years time regardless. The overall market cap of cumulative cryptocurrencies will rise very significantly in this time. It's a good read though looking into when quantum computing can crack the private and public keys faster than the crypto transaction can take place and how this can be countered. If it was essentially certain an asset would be worthless in 20 years I wonder at what point the price would actually drop of it remained useful in the present anyway...

How much does the average person know about electronic transfers and the tech involved regardless?
On an aside I'm looking to research any cryptos that can be backed by something more intrinsically valuable like data storage or energy. Ill need to upload my conciousness to the cloud at some point.
