    Story here in SMH:

    http://www.smh.com.au/it-pro/business-it/ibm-quietly-slashing-australian-jobs-20130619-2oic6.html

Nothing new here. IBM doing what they do best and that is exploit lower socio-economic countries and workers.

IBM has two faces. The public goodie goodie "Big Blue" and the face known by employees. That of an uncaring exploitative, "you could die for all they care" organisation who won't even provide tea and coffee.

So to add to the bottom line they sack Australian workers and send the work offshore. Whilst a business makes money in Australia they should have to support local workers.

I have a recommendation our government should legislate. And that is for each job sent overseas that could be done by a local worker, the company has to pay an annual tax or penalty equal to 50% of the positions industry standard wage.

Say a systems engineer role paying say $80,000 in Australia gets sent offshore then the company has to pay $40,000 to the government per year.

It's true businesses have the right to manage their business, but if we're looking at supporting local workers something needs to happen.

If they don't like then they can sod of out of Australia because someone will take their place who is prepared to do it.
