DaveR that's why I reckon education especially increased funding of our research institutions / providing incentive for R&D is the key
you can build industry on new intellectual property and that IP provides somewhat of a firewall against exporting jobs overseas
we don't do any of this, we rely on mining, don't invest significantly in R&D (how much of our risk capital is wasted on property investment?) and when the tide goes out we have no bathers on
