I just want to seize this opportunity on an active options thread to ask a question about capital gains tax regarding options.

Do you calculate the twelve months from purchasing the options or exercising the options?

I think it's from purchasing the options because you're actually just fulfilling a transaction arranged on the options purchase date. does anyone have an opinion or a link regarding this? I've searched the ATO but was unsuccessful.
