Sea level rise due to AGW is predicted to take hundreds of years before world scale catastrophic sea flooding events occur. This gives the likelihood of plenty of time to work towards changing the warming trend - hopefully reversing it even - in a cost effective manner. So there’s no point in doing nothing except retreating to higher ground.
