The situation is shaping as a repeat of the Ukrainian minerals for security deal. Trump went for the whole nine yards but settled for five after failing to seduce Putin. Yet he got his minerals deal along with an implict understanding that he would protect US interests in Ukraine.
If Rwanda dog it over the peace treaty, or Trump determines they are not acting in good faith, he may simply turn his attention to FT and wrap up a minerals deal anyway. As in Ukraine.
The understanding again being that not only will he protect US interests but also that Rwanda will incur his full wrath, starting with crippling sanctions.
And Rwanda know it too, so I'll be surprised if they don't come to the party. They are doomed not too, even though relinquishing $800m per month in DRC mineral taxes will be a tough pill to swallow.
Whatever, I'm pretty sure Kigali have noted what happens when Trump walks away from the table. The mullahs in Iran right now are having a lived experience lol. FAFO.
