Just a snippet of history. When you visit Broken Hill they tell you a story about Afghans. Remember how they were employed to help build the overland telegraph with their camels in the second half of the 19th century? Well quite a few stayed on in Australia and during WW1 we were busy killing soldiers of the Ottoman Empire so a couple of these Afghans got cranky about it and set themselves up in Broken Hill and started taking potshots at the locals, doing their part for the war. I understand they met a quick end.
I think the mentality that lead them to act that way is still in the Muslim community.
