IDEX 2009 conclude defense exhibition with deals exceeding AED 18 billions

(With photos) ABU DHABI, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- The International Defense Exhibition "IDEX 2009" concluded its military defense exhibition on Thursday on a triumphant note with the total deals signed during the five-day event exceeding AED 18 billion.
The event hosted by Abu Dhabi was a great success in terms of representation of global firms specializing in defense industry and the participation of official delegations from various countries.
A record-breaking 897 companies from 50 countries and over 150 official delegations from around the world were in attendance at the exhibition spread over a 108,000 gross square meter facilitated by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company.
IDEX 2009 Spokesman Staff Major General Obaid Al-Ketbi asserted on the success of the event in attracting the largest number of world's defense manufacturers, who displayed their latest innovations.
The impressive presence of a number of national firms, who showcased products that could compete with world's top companies, made the event more distinguished, Al Ketbi added.
Several companies have already booked their space for the forthcoming edition of IDEX in 2011, reflecting their confidence and trust in the event, noted Al Ketbi.
For his part, UAE Vice President the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum said that the military defense exhibition should provide an opportunity for professionals and those interested in technology and sophisticated defense equipment which are at the end made by human intelligence.
Sheikh Mohammed also praised during a visit to the show those who organized the event, made smooth access to all facilities and platforms, including the presentation of UAE's achievements on the national level, calling on all young people and national staff to protect these achievements and maintain momentum.
