Israelis in charge of propaganda don't know what they are doing. Should we be surprised? I myself am not. I would actually be surprised if they could get it right.
Somebody on the Israeli side, presumably some army officer or soldier can even be heard instructing one of the Palestinians to "please put the gun that we gave you down". The whole clip is interesting and revealing, in particular from 7:03 as seen in the screenshot below:
