Well, you know me and I can say that I spent 7 years between 2016 and 2022 as a full time carer. To do this I had to move from Queensland to Melbourne, give up my job with the Oz Govt and also say good bye to my gf at the time.
For caring I was paid the Carer payment which was 1/4 of what I was earning as an APS1.
Eventually my care recipient had to move into full time care late 2022. The aged care assessors queried why I did it for so long given how difficult the job was.
I was happy to do it for my family but I gave up a lot to do it. It also saved the Oz Taxpayers from paying even more by providing full time care and accommodation instead of just the meagre carer payment to me.
