Reminds me of a Ben Elton novel, Stark (star/Ark) where they ended up with a whole lot of Telephone Sanitisation Specialist and Hair Dressers on the space ship that was meant to preserve mankind.
It is a very funny book that set it Western Australia during the 'white shoe' period. Perhaps Scott has read it.
