It just occurred to me that governments make zillions out of excise on fuels. If all transport goes electric, that will put a huge dent on their budget receipts and they will need to raise additional funds somehow. And I'm struggling to find how they will do it. Tax on electric cars? Charge more for electricity? Huge slug on every tonne of dirty spody sent overseas? Or will our taxes just be raised? Any thoughts? jwt
