Hardly... Britain managed to colonise much of the world because of their brutality and their expansionist policies. Japan, Indonesia, China, India no doubt could have if they wanted to. However Eastern cultures generally are far less colonial than the West. What Britain did here was genocide of Indigenous people for the Crown - one fine example was in Tasmania white "settlers" were paid 5 pounds for killing an Aboriginal adult and 2 pounds for killing an Indigenous child.
