We may also find one day that those that hold cryptocurrencies not "truly backed" by a precious metal or fiat currency will realise what they are actually worth, well Nothing. Heck Bitcoin (not backed or pegged to anything but itself) has a current market cap of AUD$2 Trillion and that is one heck of a collapse should find itself worthless. Give me a chunk of Gold any day.
