I know some very well-off traders cfdsRus, so Id argue strongly that it doesn't work. On the flip side, I know some investors who have done very well too. In the end there is more than one way to skin a cat so to speak, so any talk of this is the only way to do it is pure opinion.
Personally I like to do both. Long-termers for the stocks I feel comfortable with, and trades for those that have alot of volume and move quickly. And sometimes even a combination for an individual stock.
The biggest mistake people make is getting emotional, falling in love with a stock. My opinion only.
