China/India between them have 37% of the world's population and the United States has just 4.5% ... I doubt it is stable in the long term that the United States currently consumes 25% of the world's energy.
Global affairs are in a state of flux over periods more like a quarter/half a century whereas governments change typically every 3 to 8 years and markets buzz and gyrate on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
Picking the real long term global trends and understanding the implications is more about blissful ignorance or calm acceptance imo.
