Your post Dust says it all.
The PM said she will call misogyny and sexism whenever she sees it. I guess its a bit like dusting. You only dust the bits you want to see and clean. She wont call the joke sexist or misogynist. She wont make Swan, Plibersek and others who no doubt thought the joke was funny and may have perhaps even laughed at it, apologise to Peta Credlin.
Under the standard Oxford Dictionary, the new Combet/Macquarrie Dictionary definitions the joke fits quite well under both definitions. The judges who walked out after would also be able to recognise it. At least they had guts and fortitude unlike Swan who stayed to give his "keynote" speech.
Dust everyone has said the Allan Jones comment was over the top and beyond acceptability. Allan Jones apologised. He has suffered a lot for that comment and so he should. However none of the attendees at the CFMEU function have done so. Both Peta Credlin and Tony Abbott have adopted the approach of rising above all of this, knowing full well that Swan Plibersek and others will have to come forward with a grovelling apology which will be seen for what it is.
When you start to throwing manure be careful where it lands.
