There was a Mahdi, there was a Gordon Pasha, and the Mahdi army was flattened by General Kitchener.
Gordon was beheaded by the Mahdis men (there they go again) against his orders and stuck on a pole.
Soon after the Mahdi himself croaked.
Generals Gordons tomb is in St Pauls , on the left as you walk in.
Didnt say anything about the Sudan war being made for a movie though.:)
