It is not a question of prosperous people deserving of their riches.

But people making the best of their situation. You can be starving in a rich environment [the fellow on the footpath] or be healthy in a poor one.

If ones past decisions are responsible for where we are today them todays decisions will impact where we are tomorrow. Hence "we are responsible."

Just playing the market day to day is testiment to that.
When we look at losses who else is there to blame but oneself. At some point we have to question and perhaps change to survive.
