As I have posted many times stooge, there was no single reason for the invasion rather a combination of factors.
Cleaning up the middle eastern governments who support muslim terrorists was one factor, and that has had some effect as those that do are running scared at the moment that they could be next.
Strategically Iraq was a good place to start as it was ruled by a very unpopular and brutal despot.

Those are probably the main two, but also securing oil supplies and making sure the money from selling it went to the Iraqi people, not dictators or terrorists. Removing scud missiles and any other weapons Saddam had aimed at Israel. Removing any WMD that might have been found, I don't think anyone knew whether there were any there or not.

There are five reasons, there are more but that should be enough to make you think.....or maybe not, I mean I don't want to make your head hurt.
