G'day,
If you are not interested in Celelstis/Quantiferon/TB then don't bother with the following.
However, for those that are interested, it is an interesting tracking of the US military's consideration of the the QF test for TB as a replacement for the existing TST test.
1. May 2000 report by the AFEB on Tuberculosis Screening" In this report the AFEB (Armed Forces Epidemiology Board) express the need for a replacement for the unsatisfactory (100 yr old) TST test. They discuss the (then) new Quantiferon whole blood assay and the early, encouraging results. They make suggestions as to the further testing requirements and their desire to have FDA approval for the test. This further testing has now been done and FDA approval was granted in November 2001.
2. Question put to the AFEB by the Assistant Secretary of Defence asking specifically for the boards recomendations on the use of Quantiferon-TB in the military.
