Labour allowed temporary residents to purchase and hold onto houses, meaning our residential property (under labour's impressive rule) has had increased competition. (this has now been reversed as labour realised their mistake).
We've also had the best banks in the world (acknowledged time and time again), the bank guarantee (one of the things I think labour did well), and low interest rates.
We also didn't have the same speculative bubble as in America. We had people to put in the houses.
I don't think Labour helped in this area at all - apart from the bank deposit guarantees.
