Some educational sessions will be held throughout this month's Sleep Products Expo, at which Alexium is exhibiting.

This year one of the sessions is being provided by the CPSC. CPSC officials will provide an overview of consumer product safety activity and standards compliance developments that concern mattresses, including an update of CPSC actions concerning the use of organohalogen flame retardants.

A “flame retardant” search of the 250 exhibitors turns up just a small handful of companies offering FR components for mattresses with only two of these offering chemicals, including flame retardants. One of them is Alexium.

Unlike thermoregulation, which is an optional extra, all mattresses and mattress pads must comply with flammability standards set by the CPSC.

With a non-organohalogen FR, available on its own or combined with Alexicool (and an analytic method to quantify and compare Alexicool’s thermoregulation performance), Alexium seems well placed to draw interest at this year’s ISPA Expo.
