The point, really, is who the hell cares who is selling or buying any particular stock at any particular point in time?

For starters, you'll never ever know. And, anyway, even if you were somehow able to have some unique insight into what a certain group of investors is doing on an hour-to-hour, day-to-day basis, there are so many other indeterminate market participants that you will never be able to know what the investing motives are of every single one of them.

But if, hypothetically, you were able to be all-knowing, all seeing at any point in time, within a few hours or the next day the participants have largely all changed, and you have to start all over again.

So for the life of me I can't understand why people bother trying to discern what is driving stock prices, and then ending up simply guessing.

It is the biggest waste of time.

And of course, whenever a stock price falls, its always being manipulated. Always some anonymous, undefined corporate bully seeking to defraud mum 'n dad investors of their life savings. And the line is that it is always being sold down by some conniving major institution who is actually wanting to buy the stock. (I've yet to understand how that works...no one has been able to satisfactorily explain it to me.)

People should analyse businesses, and not tick-watch.

For if business performance continues to improve with each reported result, then the value of the shares will follow, and there will be no need to speculate on what is causing twitches in the share price over any given few minutes, or hours.
